Bro they massacred you in comp, I'm an intern at a f500 in south Carolina making $26 an hour
Good for you!! And I agree with you- I’m depressingly underpaid 😒. About $25 an hour
Even for lower COL area that seems low.
I see. Do you have an approximate number/role/firm that I can consider? Thank you
Chief
I’m assuming you’re in PWC’s equivalent of the SDC/Managed Services. Switch firms or go to a smaller one
Chief
I went from EY’s Delivery Center to Deloitte in their consulting department and know many more that have done the same to other firms big 4, smaller, or even FAANG/Fortune 100’s. Just get your story straight and kill those interviews😎
$26 an hour isn't much more than 48k, what am I missing?
Yeah I was pointing out that as an intern, my comp was a bit higher.
Not In a condescending way, but in the fact that they really did him dirty comp wise.
Sounds like OP joined a service delivery center, cost cutting department, or similar.
Those positions aren't great for growth and development. They're more just a revolving door and thats the stated business model for some of them.
Doesn't mean one can't use them strategically to advance a career outside of that firm, but I wouldn't expect to have opportunities within that firm if you started at a delivery center.
Hey there OP. That is certainly a path forward. Can be done. Has been done.
I'd just make sure you have a good story. And you have good list of skills and if you were to step outside of these big 4 or similar you'd be valuable.
Homie commented above that a smaller firm would be in the money as far as a target. Certainly true. And smaller firms *CAN* often be much sharper and do much higher quality work compared to these giant oceans of mediocrity where the rule of thumb is "I'll be gone you'll be gone". ***Generally speaking***
But I've also seen some folks in these types of departments make it to another big 4 in the real consulting side.
