@SC1 definitely not the case. There is a right answer, and getting to it is necessary but insufficient
It’s taken for granted (outside of some bizarre edge cases) that successful interviewees will reach the right answer. Those who receive offers will get there the right way

Dude for the case just be chill, and know that there is no right answer, they only care about how you answer...
^ completely agree. The whole "just trying to assess how you think" is just to keep people from hunting for data and make them less nervous

There’s a lot of meat around the bones of the case. The bones need to be right, the meat needs to be clever, logical, and structured
If the case is supposed to end with you recommending we enter the Chinese market and you pick Ukraine instead, you’re probably not getting an offer, but there is plenty of room for you to put your own spin on that core recommendation

Well partner told me my recommendation was illegal and I still got an offer...not sure if the “it’s more about how you think” mantra is just true at Bain and not BCG, or if Bain just likes recommendations to be a little illicit 😜.
Either way, it is definitely more about how you think when I interview people.
