Here’s the deal. A bad school won’t care and would plug you into openings caused by people like you doing something similar.
A good school won’t touch you after this.
You want to find schools where nobody ever leaves, because it means there are lots of things going on there that are good.
Schools that are revolving doors will have openings all of the time because no one wants to stay.
First, leaving mid year causes a school many more issues than it does for summer vacancies. If I’m a principal and I see you left mid-year, I’d be wondering if you’ll leave me in the lurch, too. Second, you’re likely breaking your contract, so there goes another strike against you. At best, I am only 50/50 on even giving you an interview and 0% if I have four or more candidates.
Your best bet professionally? Hang on through the end of the year, if for no other reason than to use every one of your sick days.
It could. If your principal is mad enough he/she can report you to the state licensing division for teacher credentialing. Where I live it’s the CCTC, California Commission of Teacher Credentialing. They can suspend your teaching license if they believe they have enough reason. This may depend entirely on your state. Do some digging before walking out mid year.

Take a day or two off to self care yourself. Think first. I would advise you to hold on a bit longer, don't quit. Try to talk to your colleagues for advice too. We have 4 months to go. You can do this!!!

I would guess they could have your license pulled if you leave without proper notice.
Check your State's school code.
I forgot to add, in some states, if you leave mid year, your certificate is frozen with the school that you left until the end of the year, and they can choose not to release you from the contract. Or they might be able to reclaim some of your salary. You did sign a contract to be there for a certain amount of time, I assume.
If you break a contract, in some places they can keep you from getting a job for the following year. Stick it out! You can do it!!!!
Stay informed. My rule has always been to not to quit until I have a new job lined up. I’d probably stick out the year, but definitely start applying!
My school has has people leave and they have landed elsewhere. I do agree with other comments and the perspective of things. Thinking about why you left, why is there another school with an opening mid year. I have had the same thoughts, honestly. Trying to stick it through.
Can you take a family leave ? We can take a family leave, but there’s no guarantee of getting your exact job back. You might get a different school and grade level within the district. If you can take a leave, it would give you some time to think about what you want and if you happen to find another teaching job, so be it
I am in a similar dilemma. I have worked at this district for 8 years, and as soon as I expressed concerns and seemed unsure about my future in teaching, admin's attitude completely changed toward me. Try to stick it out. I know it is hard. Use sick days for mental health when needed. If you want to stay in teaching/education, maybe consider doing something hourly at a similar pay rate so you are not locked into a year long contract. If you need to leave mid-year or want to continue job searching, you can. That is what I am considering.
Well, I don’t think walking out in the middle of anything is good for any career. However, if you found another district that was desperate to hire, you might be OK. But you’re not going to like it there either.
