If a firm has multiple openings that you’re interested in, is it a good or bad idea to apply to more than one position? I’m a third year interested in retooling from lit to general corp, but they prefer someone with 3+ years of corporate experience. They’re also looking for an M&A with 1+ years, so it may be easier to aim for that, but I’ve heard horror stories re WLB for M&A. Would still try it out tho bc I’m desperate to leave lit, but don’t want to make a faux pas. Any insights appreciated!

Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. I’ve since been focused on a Patent Attorney track and am with a firm that will support me taking the patent bar/law school. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

I currently work in Healthcare as a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I have been at my job, currently, for a little over 5 years. Alongside my bachelors degree I also have a masters degree in healthcare administration. Although, I am happy with my current position as a respiratory therapist, there seems to be not a lot career growth with where the department I currently work in within my healthcare system. I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Some Business Intelligence/Analyst roles are very data heavy. I wonder why these roles do not have the term “data” in them, and wonder if it’s to keep the salary lower than it should be. I have colleagues doing intense data science tasks as BI Analysts, and can’t help but feel indignant on their behalf because when hearing their job title, one would underestimate their technical ability.
