Coach
Same, I quit and got a fully remote job
Coach
In office isn’t worth it. If it wasn’t for this completely avoidable recession we dropped ourselves into there would be more WFH on the market but as it stands you really do need a connection.
I do the same type of work and have been fully remote for 5 years. I really can't think of a reason for you to need to be in office, aside from someone in management thinking they need even more control over employees. Super frustrating, not having to commute is one of the biggest perks of WFH. I was previously spending 1:30 in the car every day and hated every minute of it.
I’m really dreading going back :( commuting is not very efficient and I just don’t see the point of being there when I am doing great at home
I'm going from 4 days in office to 5 starting this summer, so I understand a little bit how you feel. And, I agree, you don't need to be there and it can wreck your mental health.
Here's my advice:
1. Listen to this podcast: https://youtu.be/yZt4ZOy6Z8c?si=i9-x89FsdhM1BotF it changed my life and way of thinking.
2. Whatever your goal is, at least you’ve got plenty of extra time in the office to work on it—and a whole hour in the car to reflect on it.
3. Use the time in the car to call long-distant friends or family.
4. Just accept it. Apply to other positions you want, and stay positive. Hope this helps!
Thanks for sending! I will check it out, I need to find a silver lining in all this!!
Fortunately my team is scattered around the country, so there is no return to office. We do have work pods to reserve, but I’m still mostly alone 2 days/wk. I think part of me goes in so I stay in the habit of some kind of commute if things change somehow.
That’s good because things can change in the blink of an eye!
I feel the same way. Everything I do can be done remote yet I am expected to be in office 5 days a week, makes no sense.
No sense!
I'm lucky that I'm still remote, but I'm wondering how long it will last. To be honest, I used to like working in offices, I enjoyed the camaraderie of it. And you do learn by osmosis, which can't happen remotely. But if I had to go back to the office I'm sure it would be tough to handle at first, especially because there would seem to be no point to it. Well, except that bosses want to see people working away.
I immediately loved working at home as soon as it became an option haha but it’s true I don’t really have any friends or connections outside of my immediate team so that could be good
