My firm likely would not. Whether correct or not, we would assume you want more money than the position is paying. Also, given your years of experience we would also make assumptions about your willingness to work on assignments that are "beneath" you.

I can’t speak for law firms but we wouldn’t do it for in house. The issue is that we always thought a senior person is taking the position out of desperation and would leave at their first opportunity.
