I joined a new firm at 6 months pregnant. I got the offer when I was about 4.5 months. I waited until I had the offer to tell the firm’s recruiting team and HR, and I was lucky that mat leave was covered regardless of when I started, so I didn’t have to negotiate (but I would have just told them it’s a requirement for me). Conflicts took almost 6 weeks because of the holidays, and I waited until I started to tell my supervisors. It all worked out, and I’m glad I made the jump now so I’m somewhat settled before I’m on leave!
Agree with A4. Don’t disclose until you have an offer. Firms were very nice about it when I eventually told them (says a lot about the culture) and one firm wasn’t and I turned down the offer. The firm had built in mat leave so didn’t have to negotiate state things.
