First time Dad and my 15 month old keeps running up the stairs at my in-laws place and they keep encouraging it. Stairs are almost 10 inches high with nothing underneath and I’m worried that he might slip and fall in between the stairs. My FIL is a bit of a know-it-all and keeps insisting it’s safe and I don’t agree. What do I do? Don’t want to fight the entire house full of people about this and kid enjoys it too much and cries a lot if I/we prevent him from climbing

I feel like the parent always has the override and authority when it comes to the child’s safety.

I understand there could be cultural and personality barriers, but if you truly believe there is a risk then you have to talk to your FIL maybe separately and express how serious you are. If you genuinely tell him about your concern, hopefully your FIL will understand and back off.

uplifting

Next best thing is practising with the kiddo so they learn how to go down stairs or fall gravefully.

3 months post breakup… I seemed to be healing well and all the sudden this week I took a huge step back and feel heartbroken all over again. For context I was in a 4 year relationship including 1 year engaged and had to call my wedding off due to his infidelity. How can I shake this? 😔

Starting an IVF cycle shortly; and feeling very anxious. My period, which is usually within 25-28 days hasn’t started yet. It is 14 days late (and no, I am not pregnant :). My doctor had me patching 4 estrogen patches everyday for 10 days.
Has anyone else gone through this? Delayed period because of IVF stress? Or delayed period because of estrogen patches?
I don’t know what to make of all of this. Any help/ guidance would be great!

My two young toddlers are home from daycare for the next 1.5 weeks for the holidays, and I have off work to watch them. It’s only been 2 days, and I’m so exhausted that I’m counting down the days until I go back to work and they are in daycare. Does anyone have any tips for enjoying this time? I love my kids so much, but how do SAHMs do this every day? I’m so drained already, and I have no patience left…

My boyfriend of 6 months just broke up with me 😔 yeah I know 6 months wasn’t that long but it was one of those relationships where we hit it off instantly. We spent every single day together, talked on the phone for hours, he was literally my best friend and we felt so comfortable with each other. We both expressed that this was a relationship we wanted to eventually become a marriage. We had a few typical relationship arguments but always tried to manage them. (Continued in comments)

I’m off on maternity leave in October and am wondering if there are any Ad Creative meet-ups/groups that are baby-friendly but not baby-centric knocking around?

I’d love to keep my Creative brain ticking over while keeping in touch with the industry, rather than everything turning to mush.

We’re still trying to get pregnant during this time and man it’s been so hard to do! Any reasons why this is so or reasons why we shouldn’t be trying? I’m the husband.

One of the partners at the firm asked me if I can move my marriage (already planned and shared dates 3months back) to next year as there is lot of work to be done for the client. I am always grateful, as for everything I have learnt in consulting is at this company. But asking me to reconsider one of the most important events in my personal life against a project. Is that right? How do you care for your work and employer anymore after this?

Anyone experienced growing apart from close girl friends? I used to have really close one, we’d speak and text updating each other on lives day in day out for couple years, now we barely talk and become more like a far acquaintance when we bump into each other. I still made the efforts, but am pretty sad. I think it started with some past boy drama, and our convos also are no longer in the same wavelength - talking about ideas vs gossiping about other ppl.

Looking for some perspective: we just got a brand new $2,000 glass top 78" dining table. I asked my husband to please use a table cloth when he uses that table for d&d with his friends to avoid scratches and the loud dice on the table. He got upset that I "don't let him enjoy our stuff," that I "hate the sound of him having fun," and he says I am being unreasonable. From my perspective, I just want to preserve this expensive piece of furniture that we both love. Am I being unreasonable?

Real question: how does a hospital system using a leading EHR not know where in the facility a patient is? Father brought in via ambulance at 215pm.....and when my mother called a few hours later for an update on his status they had no idea where he was. She played “transfer me to Dept X bingo” (ED, med/surg, OR, PACU), til she found a nurse who knew where he was. How does this happen?

Seriously wanna divorce my wife who’s not necessarily a bad person but I feel angry about her all the time. I always have to fight with her over the small things. I feel she’s playing a power game and trying to take control whenever she gets the chance.

The only moment she steps back and be the person I want is when I get really angry and she can sense it. Why do I have to do this every time to get peace?

No kids, but even I am not afraid to divorce, I don’t feel it’s worth it!

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

We both love that he is getting enough sleep and well rested on one hand. On the other hand, we are now wondering if he is sleeping way too much.. contd…

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me.
