Would you ever go back to a place that burned you? I left a restaurant last year after a brutal falling-out with management... screaming matches, gaslighting, the works. Now they’ve cleaned house, brought in new leadership, and reached out offering me a better role with more money. Part of me is tempted because I loved the team and the food, but part of me feels like it’s asking for déjà vu. Would you go back, or is it always a bad idea?

It's worth considering. If the management is new, and they thought to reach out to former employees, it sounds like they're trying to mend their ways. Might be a good idea to meet them and hear them out. It's usually a bad idea to return to the venue of a bad experience, but if problematic characters are now gone it might be worth exploring.

Never. You don’t owe anyone a second round of trauma just because the pay got better. If they burned you once, there’s a good chance it’ll happen again.

like

Probably not. If they let it slide into toxicity before, what stopping them from doing it again? Maybe if the money and the food were really, really good. But even then, maybe not.

No, I would not, there are 100,000+ just in your area. There are other restaurants to choose from, you may have to learn something new, but I call that experience and you meet new people, if the same people are there when you left then definitely know cause nothing‘s changed, period

I think it depends on how badly you need a job. It’s a bad job market out there and really hard to find a job so if you need the job, then yep, I’d definitely go back. If you’re already gainfully employed and the place is stable (even if slightly less pay), then nope - no need to add an extra layer of risk. I’m all for stability in this market!

Hell no. I had the same problem and was offered my old job back and the manager who had issues withbprobably got fired. Not worth it. You dont want to end up quitting.I didnt take my old job back. My former co workers younger than me bossed me around like they owned the place. No thanks!!

I have a question. I work as an assistant manager been a manager for a while worked for the company for 6 years. I know crew gets paid a dollar less than me yet a do a lot ( its part of my job ) I asked for a raise I was told wait 3 months. Waited I asked again was told I needed to do this this and that. I feel like I'm under paid, but I love my job and crew.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
