I have interview scheduled and completed from Commonwealth Bank Bangalore location. All technical rounds cleared.
When I called HR i got a surprise answer..
They mentioned the position which I have intervied is different than the salary rem ranges. And my current salary is higher than position what they have got and asked for approval for rem ranges changes..
Is any one faced this? Ideally HR should know expectation and allocation before scheduling intervjew..
I am bit confused with commonwealt

It would just push me out the door to secure a bigger bag. If I have to work, I'll be working smarter not harder.
Bowl Leader
Lockstep in my firm so not an issue. For non-lockstep firms, I would feel more motivated with more transparency.
Thinking about where I work now I'd probably be furious and discouraged and quit. But on the flip side I wouldn't say I don't want to know either
Encourage me to leave for sure.
I can tell you, if that information was generally available and the firm wasn't paying lockstep, you'd see mutinies. The deals that get struck have literally zero to do w performance or merit.
Timing of entrance, your rate, likability, practice group, closeness to a powerful partner, closeness to a big client, potential to walk away with a big client, if you're a man, if you're a woman (women equity partners make about $100K-$200K less than men on average), if you're a minority, if you recently threatened to leave and got awarded a match, all of these things throw off what should otherwise be merit-based pay.
I found out a person without a law degree was getting paid more than me with Less experience in the same role as me 🥹 I filed a complaint
Depends on where I fall on that range. Even if you’re lock step, merit bonuses can differ. I would try to negotiate based on facts. If I got paid less I would worry that the firm doesn’t value me or see my potential and start looking for something else
Discouraged
Are you assuming they’re getting paid more with this question? At my job we have a pay scale and pay transparency so I wouldn’t be discouraged at all.
It would depend on where they were at in their career and with the firm. If they're my senior and they make more, then it might motivate me. If they're my equal, then it would piss me off and have me looking for a new job.
