I wouldn't leave someone over this, but I also wouldn't worry about it becoming my responsibility either. I'd give her enough credit to assume she'll figure out how to make it work and reassess if/when she's unable to do so.
You're right. Let's hope so!
Dude. Leave. Point blank.
How do you know she is not equipped? How old is she? How long has she been paying loans? Is she a responsible person that has been independent for a while?
I was making $54k in a VHCOL city, paying $1k/month in loans for 8 years. My salary only went to $75k in that time frame (not in consulting).
I took on more graduate school debt (MBA) at 31 to increase my earning potential and it took me 17 years total to completely pay off my debt- at one point, I was paying $4.5K/month.
My husband never paid a cent of that debt- not when we were dating, engaged, or married. He sure benefitted from my higher salary though.
Just saying- get all the info before you judge her ..
She's not equipped in my opinion because she hasn't even started looking out for internships or jobs and she's been living off her parent's money so far. Her parents told her they were gonna cut her out financially once she graduates and I don't know how she's gonna do it. she's also not very money smart and doesn't understand the concept of living within or under her means.
As long as she’s paying them back, what’s the issue? Thats literally a rent payment lol. Some people are okay with paying what they can. That doesn’t mean she’s neglecting her other financial responsibilities.
Help her find a solution where she can lower her payments. Wouldn’t leave over it. Most ppl have student loan debt.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Yes, that's the plan .. to help her through it. But I've my own leans to pay and won't be able to jump in and help in any other way.
