Would you rather have a shorter work week but longer hours each day (i.e. 4 day work weeks but still 40 hr weeks) the current status quo? I feel like this conversation is always floated around but we never actually get any closer to it.

How about 4 days a week with eight hour days? Why are we still holding onto the notion of 40 hours being the standard?

likesmart

Exactly. I thought the point of AI was to improve productivity. If that's the case then we should stay productive with putting in less man hours. But instead the work culture wants us to work faster and keep the same hours. Sigh

like

I would very happily make the switch to a 4 day work week. 2 day weekends are just not near enough time to recharge from the week plus catch up on things I need to do and want to do. A three day weekend would be a huge improvement.

like

I agree! That extra day helps so much and I feel like it would actually be so helpful to most people. I hope one day we can actually move towards this

I would love to work fewer days a week and more hours per day. It makes traveling easier and the workweek shorter. I see a better WLB that way and you get to have one day to get things done or do something outside of work.

like

Yea same! I hope that we get there eventually. It just seems like it's so hard to happen here and any time that efficiencies are introduced in the workplace due to new tech, rather than getting more time off we're asked to do more in the same amount of time

Aren’t we already working longer days anyway? Can you just give us Friday off?

like

Ugh I know right! I wish they could but why would they do that when they can continue squeezing us for more and more work

I also prefer have 4 working days. Especially when I start to design, I don't notice time and can work more than 10 hours easily:)

like

Yea it's nice when you're already in the flow. It would an extra few hours per day in order to get an extra day back seems like a fair tradeoff

Absolutely! I would love a 4 day week and 3 days weekend. If I’m doing the same amount of time as I would 5 days a week, I could definitely do it in 4 and give myself the 3 off.

like

Yea I feel like this is definitely doable for many and I'm hoping that we can take meaningful steps to move towards that eventually even though it seems almost always impossible given the current working standards

like

I would love having three days off a week. Even if that meant working 4-10 hour days. Having one week day off per week would be really nice.

like

Yea I agree!! That extra day to recoup actually helps so much and I feel like it could actually make people more efficient at work so I'm hoping we can move towards that

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

Im working at a big multi-product company and we're having 5 dedicated product teams, however, teams are working in silos. Each team's has its own process, design system, technology etc. We identified that most of the teams use and need components that were already conceptualised, designed and developed, for our other products, and we are starting to create a global set of components, a global design system that we will use on all our products. What is your approach?

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. What do you think about my new title? I know that title is not a big thing but why I feel like my title is downgraded here… Good thing is my jobs here at my current team are what I really wanted to do. This is amazing. I love my new team and people here! Super healthy working environment! But just curious about the title.
