I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? Depending on the school it will get you 90 percent there. Key advice is generally the same for consultanting type resumes.
Most reputable business schools have solid templates. They generally all follow similar guidelines too (i.e quantify your impact, show leadership experience and extracurriculars, etc)
On the plus side they also give a cheat sheet of buzzwords you can use to make it sound more impactful so that's helpful lol

Templates provide a solid foundation, but refer to current industry related sources also. Strictly following career center templates and guides yields a solid, but unremarkable (ie ineffective) resume.
Great thanks everyone. My career center is pretty adamant on following their template but I recently had a coffee chat with a consulting associate and they recommended several changes. I found the advice useful but I’m sure my career center will have something to say about not following the template
Just use your best judgment.
Content and effectively conveying qualifications is ultimately what matters not the format.
As a hiring manager, I don’t care at all about what template someone uses. Often times, I get a plain text that is an unformatted readout from a website. Show me your skills and what you have done that demonstrates them. I do care about grammatical errors.
