Definitely a little worried about that. The initial set of hotel with category mappings that they released seems to be decent overall tho. We'll see! :)

Points are not comparable, you know that. Either way I would be at the Ritz.

Those 12k Hyatt points are worth about $216 (valuation of 1.8 cents per point), while the 50k Marriott points are worth about $468 (valuation of .9 cents per dollar). Seems like an easy choice to make, unless the Ritz is worth more than twice as much to you I'd go with the Hyatt :)

Off topic: I'm new to Hyatt but trying to learn. Is Regency one of their top tier brands?

Hyatt Regency is comparable to something like a Sheraton. Typically a premium hotel but not a luxury hotel (Park Hyatt is their luxury brand)

Thanks for the replies - Do you think the Marriott point valuation is going to go down after August?

Severe devaluations are coming for marriott/spg. Its already started

Where do you see it already?

Level 9, moving up the Tier rating on a lot of hotels, reduced normal room avaliablity, etc

New England Friends: we are a couple in early 30s (No kids yet and a small dog) planning to move to New England from Chicago. Our options are Hartford, CT and Boston, MA. Below are few considerations - 1. SO does not need to travel and will commute to work and I might need to travel when COVID is over. 2. Will prefer a dog friendly neighbourhood. 3. Both are from Midwest so winter does not bother us. 4. Planning to sell our condo in Chi and buy a SFH in the location. Any recommendations?

Officially had the worst date of my life. Dude kept saying he’s expecting me to pay for the entire tab (which is nbd really) before we reached the restaurant for dinner and drinks. It was all fun and merry until the check came and the waiter gave the check to him instead of me. Date gets offended and calls waiter a sexist bc “why should men pay all the time?” And angrily gives his credit card 💳. I insist and put my credit card as well and we split the tab. 😂🤣 this was our first and last date. ☺️
