Happy I found my new firm with higher caseload and bigger opportunity for bonus and more flexibility. Less than 2 years into a new state and I was worried I wouldn’t find a great fit as an associate, but 5 months in to my second job and I think I found my future; should be at $4.5-5M in PreLit Settlements, pumped for the future. Takeaways - Don’t be afraid to see what else is out there and Don’t be afraid to speak up. Two weeks after I left my last firm the other associate left as well.

I settled my first case. It was a really amazing experience handing the check to my client. Can’t wait to grow as an attorney in 2022

Unfortunately was dragged into an audit despite the fact I don’t work in audit. Why does audit RM say yeah your hours will be 50 hours/week when you’ll have to work way more to do the audit. Seems very dumb - if you have work do it, if not don’t work…

I give my cell phone to all clients routinely. However, there are always 1 to 2 clients who abuse this and it seems as soon as their cases are over I find a new one and it is making me rethink. I hate to do this because 98% do not abuse it and I like being connected to my people. Thoughts??

3P Policy Limits: $100k
Liability has been accepted
Property Damage: $10k
Current Medical Bills: $65k
MRI findings (lumbar): 4mm
Client has received 3 injections and a surgery rec for laser discectomy

Sent 2 policy limits demands. Adjuster offered $60k both times because they don’t see a “causal relationship” without offering us any articulated supporting facts.

The insured is a Radiologist, he appears to own a home valued over $2M.

Is this policy open? Best approach? Thoughts?

I received a job offer from a PI firm (MVA and tractor trailer cases) in Houston, Texas; the bonus proposed was 2.5% of attorney’s fees for any cases settled each quarter. We are assigned 50 cases a quarter and the top attorney clears $25K each quarter. This is my first time working at a PI firm. Can anyone share any guidance? Is 2.5% industry standard? Is it realistic to settle/resolve that many cases? I am trying to learn more about this niche before I counter-offer and attempt to negotiate.

I’ve done PI work my entire career for over 10 years. I’ve worked in state and federal courts and I’ve traveled around the country doing MDL work and bellwether trials. I’ve had a lot of success making the idiots I’ve worked for wealthy, but I’m still waiting for a moment where I enjoy what I’m doing. I feel stuck working in dysfunctional plaintiff firms/cultures. I hate this profession/career more and more each year. Has anybody been successful breaking off on their own in recent years? Advice?
