Writing a work doc in my own voice is a flex over using AI which tends to remove company specific language and personality. There is still value in good writing.

Was there ever the argument that there is value in bad writing?

1000000% can’t believe how proud some people in tech are that they have replaced most of their written contributions with text extrusion machine drivel… like omfg why would anyone be proud of being unable to write well…

like

agree but i'd push the framing a bit. the flex isnt the voice, its the specifics. AI flattens toward the average because it doesnt know the load-bearing details only you have. a doc in your own voice usually reads better because it actually carries the context an outsider couldnt fake. the people who lose nothing to AI are the ones who had something specific to say in the first place.

Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

I’m in interviews with a few companies. It was initially to see what was out there to negotiate my pay. Now, I’m seriously considering leaving my current company because of what one of the prospect companies represent: everything I want in a company/role. (Plus they reached out to me) AND they will pay me almost double what I’m currently making annually, put me in a position to advance (so many options!!!!!) and allow me to move/travel when I get ready to.

What should I do? Guidance please!!!

Reorgs are just a part of the corporate world. If you haven’t been a part of one in your career yet, then you most likely haven’t been in the corporate workforce for very long. If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? There are many factors at play, but in general do you try to establish relationships with the individuals you know will be key contributors and/or decision makers going forward? Or do you lay low and let what ever happens be/hope for the best?

So I have been made an offer by a company I like but it’s pretty similar to my current package (I also like where I am). The recruiter is pretty intense and is pitting me against another candidate but says I’m the number one choice and is asking me for a number to say yes “but not too high or the team will look at the other candidate”
I’m close to send them to get stuffed. I’m also awaiting a promo and interview feedback from Google. Any advice?

I saw someone else do this, so imma give it a shot. Lately, I’ve been applying to iOS developer roles and I’m getting TONs of calls and callbacks from HR and recruiting managers, but then when my resume gets pushed to hiring managers they seem to often get peeved at how little years of experience I have with the title “iOS developer”…
which is fair, and to show my credibility I published my first app last week, but I’m still getting similar messages from recruiters this week. Idk what to do??
