I’m getting sick of living in a city. What’s a good midsize town, liberal, good schools. Anywhere in the us? Good weather would be nice
Dear POC parents: I have 2 lily white girls, age 4 and 6. Until the last week or so, the only discussion of race we’d had was “how you act and the color of people’s heart is what counts” and “we all look different in some ways.” They get it but are also capable of more. We’ve now started talking about how different races came to this country, including age-appropriate descriptions of the slave trade (eg treated badly/meanly/hurt not whipped and raped) and Native American dispossession, and...
Do you think consulting firms should be evaluating their employees during these unprecedented times? Given all of the parenting responsibilities and stress in general?
How do you all manage to cut hair, cut nails and change diapers when the baby is extremely wiggly and just very fidgety. 9 month old baby and it's a struggle to keep him stable for even a minute.
Any recommendations for a baby jogger? Little one is about to be 9 months old and I will be planning to take our 20-lb dog out for runs as well if that factors into any recommendations.
Does anyone have any experience with electric/battery operated self-propelled lawn mowers? Was looking at the EGO and Ryobi but interested in recommendations
My mother in law is planning to stay with us for 3mo after my wife gives birth (because we live internationally). Any tips / ground rules to help everyone stay sane? We have a 3bdr house townhome, but living space is pretty close-quarters.
At what age do babies sit on their own (no back/sides support)? My 7mo old can sit for brief periods but then tries to move and falls to the side or backwards (so I am usually guard-railing her). She is fine when strapped to the high chair. Also, at what age so they stand up by holding to a wall? Anything I should be doing to get her to try?
Help...my 6 mos old demands not simply to be held constantly but to also be carried around. He is only happy on his playmat or jumpy for 10 min max and then demands to be picked up. If you stop walking he begins to fuss. Days without nanny are becoming pointless voids of time and leave spouse and I with tired arms. I actually look forward to diaper changes as they are more fun. Is this normal? And if so, how long does it last? Anything I can do? Do I just let him cry and he grows out of it?
Chicago based dads. Daycares are expected to open next week, do you plan on sending your toddlers back to school?
Anyone signed up for WonderDads? Keep seeing an ad for it on Instagram, but can’t help but think it feels weird to pay for an email subscription.
What is your response when your kid says “dad, was that funny?!” and it was not funny? Insert whatever adjective you want.
We are expecting a second child in about 15 days and my first one is 2.5 yrs old. My wife took a break after our first child and we never had a nanny. Our entire family lives outside of US. With the current situation, none of our extended family members are now able to travel and help. we are worried about hiring a nanny at this point because of covid concerns. What are my childcare options so that I can be with my wife during the labor?
Do you all use some kind of soothing baby music to put your little one to bed? What is it that you use and recommend? Also, do u let the music be on the entire night?
I live in NYC. Any recommendations on the best 529 college plan to open? Not too worried about in-state tax credit (I think) since I plan on moving abroad for 6-7 years and may not return back in NY.
2 year old waking up screaming for mom in the crib at 4 am every day. We spend about 30 minutes getting him calm and then he’s up by 530 again. Used to be a championship sleeper. Tired and moody all day. Any tips?
Assuming All goes well, I’m expecting to become a dad some time in October ! Are there any books you’d recommend reading ahead of the big event ? Also interested in any general books about parenting/ educational psych.
