Not all are like that, but Im irked by people who only have their jobs/rise up because they are extroverted/network. You have to pick up the slack on the project because they can’t do their job.

How do you guys think I should handle being shy? I enjoy the company of others, but can’t find my voice in a group and frequently find myself unintentionally cut off or other situations.

What is wrong with people that try to push introverts to present because they think “it’s good for us and we will get over it this way”?!? As an introvert I know that I need to know my stuff continue.

Is it appropriate to skip company holiday parties (whether formal or informal)? I like the holidays/my coworkers, but don’t feel like I fit in with them. I think I’d be happier doing my own thing.

I feel like I have no idea how to interact with higher ups. I am able to come out of my shell with peers since I feel comfortable and can relate with them. But I feel so stupid and awkward cont.

It takes me time to warm up & connect to new people, esp. in casual settings. Anyone any strategies how to deal with that? I see I am missing out on good and deeper connections.

When you finally get that promotion. How to negotiate for raise in Salary if it’s less then your peers and what glass door says for that position?

anyone have resources to help with social anxiety? would love to have some solid advice to turn to to help with networking

In all of the consulting projects I have been in so far, the team works together in a team room. How do introverts deal with spending time with the same people all day with no time for yourself?

I struggle w/ deep convos in social settings w/ partners. We have team dinners every few weeks that I go to, but find it tough to engage with them. Doing well on case, but feel it’s career limiting.

Got dinged after a job interview and was told by the recruiter verbatim that the reason is I wasn’t outgoing enough. This was for a product manager role, not sales or anything...so disappointing.

Sometimes I hate being an introvert. Within a moment of opportunity, I have splendid conversations in my head, everything's going great! But in real-time - um, oh, ah - awkward silence.

Is networking necessary to survive in consulting? How about industry ?

I feel like I’m seen as less of a contributor because I’m bad at thinking oh my feet during client meetings. Words just don’t come out of my mouth right

Does anyone else feel like once you’re known as the quiet person, it’s hard to change your clients’ or teams’ minds? How do you start off a new project not being the quiet one?

What’s the best way to recoup energy fast? I just got out of a 2-hour meeting with the most extroverted person I’ve ever met and feel like I need to hide in a silent, dark room to recover.

Anyone else dread the 2-3 hour team dinner? I would truly welcome some quiet alone time after sitting in a noisy team room all day.

I got feedback from my manager telling me that I should always have an opinion, which is very hard in group settings, esp. when people are talking about a topic unrelated to my module. Any thoughts ?

Question- how do you all appear enthusiastic and high energy in job interviews? I’ve gotten feedback that my serious demeanor comes across as not enthusiastic about the job and then I get dinged
