Second the suggestion of making notes. A couple of other suggestions:

I sometimes have trouble coming up with the right word for something in the moment and I’ve found it helpful to jot down relevant terms and jargon in the margins of my notebook ahead of meetings.

If materials are distributed ahead of the meeting, make time to review them before the meeting starts, so you have time to start thinking about the topics before getting into the meeting itself.

You’re not alone in this. I always felt a little awkward about being this way too, until I worked with a Partner on a project who had no problem saying they needed to let things “marinate for a while“ before being able to speak to it or give an opinion. That made me feel more comfortable about asking for time or if I could review materials ahead of time

Yes! I've found I'm better at working my magic away from all the eyes. I put together things (data extraction tools, etc) that noone else can do, and they don't have the patience to try. You need other ways to show off your skills. Also, saying "I'll get back to you on that" is perfectly acceptable if not overused.

Try Toastmasters clubs they have a portion of the meeting called table topics - ask random questions and you have to stand up and answer for 1 - 2 min. The prepared speech portion really helps too. You will get better at it the more you practice and it helps that it is a non-work environment.

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

Hi need suggestions, i just joined HCL technologies noida , as a tech lead, its been 2 months only , and my reporting is to group tech manager, and he's giving me hard time to settle in and understand the project. Feeling like being pressurized to do things fast.
What should i do, i am very confused, when i start liking the project he again made some sarcastic comments and pressures me , even i am utilizing my weekends to unterstand it faster.

I have been interviewing nonstop since I lost my job early September. Rejection after rejection burning through my savings. I picked up some freelance and reached out to a previous boss.
Yesterday I received 3 calls, one from my old boss he was putting in a job req to have me rehired, the second was that a job I have been interviewing for was going to present me an offer today and the third was a job offer (but that role was not a fit for me) i am super concerned with burning bridges - help

Client: Can she be wearing an Aviva t-shirt?
Creatives: Sure yea. That's completely normal.

What's even worse is that it looks like it's been done in post.

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Are you traveling during the pandemic or have client interactions been virtual? Lastly, if you are a consultant here, are you on billable hours? My current consulting role is not - so this would be new.

So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else.
