My family seems to feel sorry for me because I don't go out and have "fun" very often. They think they need to "get me out of the house." They just don't understand that I just don't want to.

I ve been in Houston for like 8 months now. I am introverted, and I live by myself. I literally have no friends here outside of the folks I talk to at work.
I need help.

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

This is super weird but I feel like I can’t relate easily to people. Hear me out - I moved and lived in different continents, countries every 5 years or so until now… I feel like I’m an outlier and my life is super different from anyone else’s. I have some friends I’ve met at each stage of my life, but it’s been temporary. I feel like I’m always going in a different direction than others. It makes it difficult to have a stable life and close friends..

Let’s say you have two young, high income partners in a couple who want to buy a house together but don’t really care to get married. They already live together in an apartment but both want to move to a house to build equity and have a yard, not share walls, etc. Should one partner buy the house and the other pays rent until they get married, or should they get a mortgage together without being married? I realize there isn’t a “right” answer but I’m interested in people’s experiences here.

A close friend confided in me that she has cheated in all her previous relationships and struggles to understand the reasoning behind it. She feels a lot of shame and is trying to understand why she does what she does.I have suggested therapy but she is not ready yet. How did you folks arrive at the root cause behind your behavior? Advice? Book suggestions that I can pass along?

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

Confession: The only in-law that I had a great relationship with passed away unexpectedly. The two remaining in-laws were on thin ice with me prior due to years of drama, nagging, and disgusting display of wealth. I believe their demand of money and general assholish behavior drove in law to his death. I love my S.O. but I can’t deal with the drama anymore.

I want to have a family and a future that is drama-free and full of love and don’t want to surround myself with negativity.

My girlfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 8 months now. We talk every single day online and recently I went to visit her for around a month. It was great and it seemed like the relationship was stronger than ever. But one week back after visiting her, I felt a strange detachment from her and our conversation topic got repetitive and stale quick. Any advice?

Has anyone quit their job because of a relationship? I started my job 3 months ago and now my employer wants me to move to NY. The thing is, I fell in love during the pandemic with a friend that I have known for 3 years. It's frustrating since I know I could continue my job from home.
