I got feedback from my manager telling me that I should always have an opinion, which is very hard in group settings, esp. when people are talking about a topic unrelated to my module. Any thoughts ?

It’s not completely unrelated to your module, start by having that mind set. It’s afterall the same client or same project mission. I love meetings with the broader team and different work streams. I use them selfishly- by asking how can what they’re doing make what I’m trying to do easier etc at the very least if you’re trying to speak up, try looking at the material ahead of time and being ready to ask a thoughtful question..

A lot of time, it’s not about being brave enough to speak (although that can be a hurdle), it’s also about being prepared

like

You should always have a logical opinion. You may not express it if you are not comfortable. But should be ready to voice it when called out.

At the same time be open to change your opinion with evolving information .

Rather than just saying it your head, say it out loud...

Need advice - I've been talking to a Partner contact at a big-4 firm where I REALLY want to work. She sent my info to the managing partner in my city, but I haven't heard anything for about 3 weeks. Been playing it cool because I know these things can take time, BUT, I just got let go from my current firm. I have til 12/15 to find a new job.

Do I tell her my timeline is now a month, or is telling them I'm getting fired going to tank my chances of getting the job?
