I have an interview with a big charter school this week. I really want to get out of my charter school because it is chaotic. What should I make sure to mention?
I verbally accepted a teaching position in a small district that will require me to have a longer commute. The same day I was offered this position I received a phone call from my dream district to set up an interview. The interview is tomorrow! If I am offered a job in my preferred district can I take it? Am I obligated to teach in the smaller district? I have not signed a contract with the smaller district yet, that appointment is next week. TIA!
Applying for open positions seems like an exercise in futility this summer. I took a non-teaching (but still education related) position when COVID-19 hit because our hiring at my district stopped and contracted due to funding. Now that we're gearing up for the fall, I've applied to all open positions within my certification, and so far not one single request for an interview and 2 pos closed. A colleague at my current job applied to two, and got a job offer within two weeks. I have an MEd?
I’m applying for a new position. It says TAP certification is preferred. Where can I get that??
Ever had an interview where you vibed really well with 5 out of 6 of the interview panel, but one person you just could not get a good read on…. And then got offered the job?? I’m looking at moving districts. It’s my dream job, my dream school and everything about it was FABULOUS, but one person on the panel - I couldn’t get a read on whether she liked me or not? 🧐😣
I finished my student teaching in the beginning of May. I’ve been applying to positions ever since. I got a job offer in my first choice grade level but it’s a 45 minute drive. I’m feeling overwhelmed that if I don’t take this job I might not get another offer. My husband says this school is too far and to look for a job closer. There aren’t many jobs around the Central Valley. Does anyone else commute to work? Will 45 minutes get exhausting?
My teacher friend is flipping out because she is trying to transfer. She had an interview and has not heard back in over a week. Is this normal? For transfer interviews? She thinks she should have gotten the job at the end if the interview.
Has anybody taught in a school that does Leader in Me? I’m going fit an interview and would like some information if possible. Thanks.
I have a third interview tomorrow with a new district. HR has already called my references (after the second interview), and I was a little surprised when they asked me to come in for a third round. In my experience, it’s usually just 2 rounds! Has anyone had a similar experience?
Dilemma: I applied for a high school position. It looks like it went to someone else. I was contacted by the principal of another high school, same school district. This principal really wanted me to sit for an interview. Problem, though, is there is a TOXIC teacher in the department who I use to work with. So, I declined the interview. I think the principal was shocked. It's a great school. Would you have turned down a job because of ONE person?
I applied to be a Mentor Teacher on my campus, and interviews are this Friday. What sort of questions should I be prepared for? ANY advice would honestly be helpful. Thanks!
I've been asked to be part of an interview panel at my school. What are some good questions to ask an interviewee/teacher candidate?
What are some good interview questions you have been asked, or you wish you could have prepared for?
It's hiring season and I'm sick of being at a dysfunctional school. I've applied to several districts and I'm awaiting an invitation but in the meantime, how do I know if those districts are better and not just as dysfunctional? What can I ask THEM at the interview?
I am considering moving to a different state and applying for teaching jobs there. Is it standard practice for school districts to contact current employers to verify employment when considering a new hire? I really don't want my district knowing I'm looking at this juncture.
I have to prepare for a teaching job interview and it's been a looooong time. What are some questions I should be prepared to answer?
Have you even felt completely grilled in an interview? I feel as if one of the interviewers didn’t want to see me succeed in the process.
What is your position: Should a teacher inform his or her principals and assistant principals if he or she is merely inquiring about a position and has not yet set up an interview?
Hello everyone! I would like to seek out advice from other educators. I am currently in the process of applying for a doctorate program. I am pursuing my doctorate degree in order to be involved in local and state politics, as well as being an administrator. The two PhD that I am currently look at are a PhD in psychology- Cognition and Instruction OR a PhD in psychology: Integrating Technology, learning, and psychology. Can anyone recommend which one would be the better option? Thank you!
Over my entire teaching career, I've had to move out of state several times and start over. At my interviews, admin would ask for a portfolio of work and I wouldn't have much bc I often purge all student work or what I created was left on the school's drive. Do any of you have a teaching portfolio and how do you make one?
Hello!! Teacher in the making in California. ( I have my MSTC) and trying to find a teaching job!! Any recommendations? I am in a 5 month substitute job and could use any and all advice. A lot of the times I apply on Edjoin but can’t get an interview, when I have people look at my resume they say it looks really good.
This is the second year I have applied for a different grade level in my current school and interviewed. I have heard nothing back, even after emailing an thank you, and then sending a “I am still interested” when the opening was mentioned in a staff meeting. (Going from PK to K). What should I do now that we are virtually back in school?
I'm thinking about taking a period of absence (maybe the whole school year). I honestly don't care if it means losing my current position at my school, but I'm worried about how it will look wihen applying for teaching positions in the future.
I would like to hear from a teacher who has has taught virtually! I am considering applying to teach virtually for our school district and would like to connect with someone who has experience.
I’ve been with my school district for 15 years and had an interview for a different district. They offered me a position but only pay 1 year to every 2 you’ve been teaching for. I had to turn it down since it would be a $12,000 pay cut! Only in education you get penalized for trying to make a career change; seems other types of careers; they will pay you more or at least for your experience. We get a slap in the face for our worth..... doesn’t seem right how the system works for us....
I interviewed last Tuesday with a district and revived a phone call from a principal 30 minutes later offering me a position. She said HR would get back to me. I haven’t heard anything since. Should I be worried?
I was recently offered a Zoom interview. I had 10 slots to choose from. I took the first slot available. Three were one day earlier this week and the rest are next week. Does it look good (or desperate, lol) on my part that I took the first time or should I have waited until next week so that I would be fresher on their minds when choosing a candidate? Also, do interviewers still appreciate a handwritten note after an interview?
A lot of the ESL positions i am Interviewing for are part time. I don’t have an issue with this but I would assume I wouldn’t get health benefits. What other jobs could I do at the same time?
I have my first of 3 interviews with an NJ public school today. I interview with 2 other schools in the next few days. Please keep your fingers crossed.
I just saw a great interview with Bob Woodson. He said that he had more information on his website for anyone who wants more information on race relations. woodsoncenter.org
I don’t want to spam this platform because I think it’s important for teachers to have a place to speak. I just want to quickly share a link to my podcast TalkingToTeachers, which is available on most major podcast platforms. Hope you enjoy it. I would love to interview anyone in the education world once we can travel again. https://anchor.fm/talkingtoteachers
Is there anyone out there that is just terrible at interviews like me? I have bad anxiety and always stumble around what I'm saying. I have practiced questions beforehand...
Uncertain if there will be NCPK in my school next year. Thinking of applying for an “elementary” position, but not clear on the expectations and requirements. I have a BK license. Thoughts & suggestions? Thanks!
What would you do if a coworker asks you to disclose your salary info so that she can tell another person it, who is applying for a job (thinking since it was my first year and it will be hers and they would be similar)? It automatically made me feel uncomfortable and it’s someone I don’t have a great relationship with, but also don’t want to be on her bad side? How would you feel?
SM and D 🐠: when you interview a candidate with 9+ yrs of experience for a technical/leadership role - do you expect them to know the definitions of “objects” that they learnt as basics a decade back? or do you give them scenario based questions that solves clients’ problems? Genuinely curious.
Just got my second rejection. I guess jobs are hiring…just not me :/ Edit: I think I should clarify, second rejection to jobs I applied for this morning LOL. But to anyone else applying to jobs, you got this!!
I had an interview that I severely bombed (nerves got me) and obvi didn’t move forward. Is it a smart move to reach out to the interview and say 1) I didn’t accurately represent myself and 2) after...
I have an A&M restructuring interview coming up for the Analyst position. I know there is a modeling test at some point. What else could I expect in the interview? Do they do case interviews or is it more straight technical like IB? Any input is much appreciated! Alvarez & Marsal
Hi Fishes, I am currently working with TCS as PL/SQL Developer. I have 5 years and 6months of experience. And my CTC is 6.47LPA (Including 54k variable pay) . I have cleared technical round interview at Infosys. Waiting for HR discussion. I am expecting 13LPA (including 10% variable pay). Will they offer job with this package? Is this a red flag? I have been at 2 companies and have 3 YOE. 2 years at the first company and 1 at the second. Company I’m interviewing with right now is dragging me through the coals about it like I’m some kind of serial job hopper. Ive never experienced this at any other interview I’ve had. Is this seriously that big of a deal?
Interviewing with Accenture with a range of $175 -185k for first year Senior Manager. It seems low to travel for 4 days a week. What’s typical for 1st year SMs?
Looking to return to Big 4 as a consultant now that I have some experience; however, I’m not sure if the reason I’m not getting any interviews is because of covid or what’s on my resume/lack thereof. Has anyone gotten hired at Big 4 during this time and have any help or insight for me? Thanks!
Anyone have experience starting a new job for a week then leaving because you got a better offer? (I.e. you were interviewing for both at the same time but one process moved faster). Any red flags or pointers?
So how do some of you get multiple job offers to consider at once? I'm Interviewing with KPMG, Accenture, and Deloitte but am worried because the timelines are slightly staggered.
I did not realize how underpaid I was at my current firm/ position until I started applying for my same position elsewhere and saw the base starting salary at some companies/ other firms is around 10,000 more than where I’m at salary wise in my current firm (62k, HCOL, Senior Associate 1)

Has anyone recently requested for any IT asset from office ? Like monitor or something ? After weeks of struggle with ITS they have finally arranged one monitor for me. However, ITS is telling they are not shipping any assets and are asking me to come to office and collect. I am not very sure why they won't ship assets when we are still WFH.

What is the base salary range in consulting ie EY, ACN, Deloitte et al for a delivery lead with 15 years of experience?
Where do you draw the line between sexism and being old-fashioned? I’m a young female on a mostly male defense project and one of the older men always opens car doors for me, refuses to let me hold a door or drive anywhere, and seems to strongly believe in traditional gender roles in his own family. I believe he thinks this is being respectful, but it rubs me the wrong way.
Consulting career is ruining my marriage and relationships with kids. I'm obsessed with promotion and don't feel close to my family anymore. I need help
Paid team currently complaining about which vendors didn’t send them holiday gifts this year 🙄
I've 6.5 yrs of experience in automation testing & agile methodology. Currently in CL9. I joined ACN with mindset that I'll move into management role after couple of years, but they put me into a project which is 100% opposite to my previous experience, both domain and techn wise. I'm planning to take up Agile Project Management role immediately (Scrum Master or PO) & my supervisor said he will help me making the shift. Is it worth for me to make this shift right now? Recently completed MBA.
