Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Hello! Anyone work at GE Healthcare?
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I was a moderately happy high school sophomore. Now I’m a moderately happy soon-to-be manager
I was an 11 year old student in a Nigerian secondary school where the toilets were filled with blood and maggots as they didn't flush properly. My only goal atm was to somehow get to study in a top UK/USA university. I've done that now haha, and remained in the UK because somehow I've landed a consulting job at EY and it's my first year anniversary at the company next week!
was on F1 with zero earning and now on H1 earning enough to save up.
I was also laid off in 09 but I traveled through Australia and New Zealand for 1 year. Best time of my life. Now I just work all the time but I guess money is ok.
I was pretty happy in 2009 actually. My job was remarkably stable amid the chaos and though I wasn’t making rapid progression, I was focusing a bit more on outside life. In the next couple years I shifted a lot more focus to work in order to make Partner, and some of that time in between was significantly less happy. Big weight off my shoulders when I made it through in 2015, so I’ve gotten happier again but still driving pretty hard.
