Absolutely obsessed with a baby brezza bottle washer. Having a bottle washer was the biggest game changer for me. If I had to wash bottles every day multiple times per day, I think I would have lost my marbles. https://a.co/d/1gSKziK
Pro
We bought enough bottles that we only had to wash them once per day. Only buy the big bottles - they grow out of the smaller bottles in just a few weeks!
Best: Keekaroo changing pad, Bob jogging stroller, Snoo (rented), good baby carrier (I have both Artipoppe and Sakura Bloom)
Not needed: swaddle blankets (velcro is much easier), outfits other than zip up pj's, expensive bath products
Pro
I got the Wildbird as a gift and I thought it was expensive 😂
I love it though! I think it’s supposed to be very similar to the artipoppe
Well, everyone said I needed to buy a breathable mattress. I didn’t buy one and am glad I didn’t waste money on it. It was not necessary!
Obsessed with: keekaroo, baby bjorn bouncer, love to dream swaddle, zipadee zip transition swaddle, Oilo drew glider (I went back and forth on whether to splurge on this and I am so happy I did), flannel cloth wipes (I know not for everyone but I’m a big believer now that cloth wipes are the main way to prevent diaper rash - we don’t have to use any creams whatsoever when we use cloth wipes even when using disposable diapers), ubbi diaper pail, kibou diaper belt bag (you need less stuff than you think), electric baby nail trimmer, freezing milk in silicone ice cubes trays vs disposable bags, ceres chill, momcozy m5, rompers over other types of clothes, clothes that have a 2 way zip, kimono style clothes, mybreastfriend for months 0-3 and then the boppy
Overrated items: snuggle me, expensive sleeping cribs and bassinets (we used something <$40 from FB marketplace and then the IKEA crib and baby slept through the night practically from birth), Frida hygiene products, clothes with 1 way zip, clothes with snaps, clothes that go over the head, nanit (it’s fine but I think a cheaper option would have been fine for us), we didn’t need a travel system bc our baby hated being in the car seat and wanted out as soon as we got anywhere, nursing pads (not everyone leaks milk so wait until you know), haaka and boon trove (didn’t work for me), pump bras (I prefer using collection cups and nursing bras), nipple cream
Items I am obsessed with:
ikea high chairs- cheap and space efficient
Wonderfold- great for big families
Pig play pen- great especially if you have pets
Costco diapers- great bargain
Dr. Brown bottles for babies with reflux
Tubby Todd All over ointment for babies with eczema
Hot water dispenser-if you need to make bottles or quick coffee/tea
Wet/dry vacuum
Steamer
Get a nice car seat with easy to clean/wash design, I’m partial to Britax. If you spend a bit more for the all-in-one, you will save money in the long run.
Didn’t use/love:
Kid toys for kids under 12 months - the windows they are interested in them is small and they are bulky. Stick to toys that grow with them like blocks.
Big baby bath tubs, gets outgrown super quickly
Bath ducks (or any other toy that squeezes water out) mold collectors
Baby carriers- I have a bad back and they were all too uncomfortable
Baby monitors- just get a security camera you can repurpose later
Don’t spend too much on baby furniture. Most of it is poorly made.
Convertible crib. Parts are expensive to convert to a toddler bed and then a full size bed. We recently had to transition my 20 month old to a toddler bed and the toddler bed rail was $85! I paid $55 for a cute toddler bed from target. Also disliked the mamaroo swing. My son hated it and preferred the $100 graco swing.
I LOVED the Frida mom breastfeeding pillow that has a strap. I didn’t really care for the boppy. Snuggle me lounger. I know there’s a lot of hate around this due to not being safe but my baby only was in it while we were in the room and he napped like a champ in it.
Obsessed with a ~$100 bassinet (cowiewie I think) off Amazon with wheels. Rolled it to every room in the house to be able to have her lay down anywhere, she could nap next to us me while I was napping on the couch, keep an eye on her while cooking in the kitchen, etc.
