This is all in a LCOL area in the Midwest with decent finance opportunities. Currently work for a small company (I report directly to CFO) and I’m in the ~99th comp percentile for my title and geography. Would any of you take a 20% pay cut for a mgr role with better upward mobility??

99th percentile is right — Never heard of a SFA making 150k even in HCOL areas unless for companies with staggered payscale/titles (ie Netflix). If you report to the CFO, keep going for a year or so and see if he would adjust your title to something that matches the TC so you can leverage for the next career move.

If he values your work, the functional nature of the title doesn’t really matter and I’m sure you can push for a Manager title at least if you are in charge of a lot of important functions of the company. Many Finance Managers of F500 companies dont necessarily have any direct reports so it won’t take a lot of explaining to future recruiters. You can manage a process, implementations, projects etc besides actual direct reports

like

I agree, stay for a year and ask for a Manager title. You have seen money increase so hopefully you will keep seeing that there as well.

like

Don’t be so hung up on titles. You are being given a lot of responsibility and being well compensated. The company is recognizing your work and rewarding you financially. I agree to stick around for another year or 2. At that pay, a title change has to be near. Even without the title, as long as you can show you are doing manager level work, you will be in a good position to be a strong candidate if you decide to move outside the company.

Alright. Good advice. Much appreciated. I’ll heed the advice of everyone and kinda sit tight and ask for a title change in the beer future. Thanks for all the input.

Hi, is anyone here who worked before in US and transferred to Canada? Just wanted to get feedback on the culture, pay, WLB. Appreciate any inputs.

I was doing some googling and I saw that PWC offers MBA hires 45k in comparison to MBBs at 70k +. Is this a bad joke? I can't imagine that PWC's target for MBA hires is widely different from MBB. In the US, the pay gap isn't that wide. Any reason behind this madness?
