25 plus years of continuous government service and I would have never guessed that the government would be in this predicament. Civil servants are the backbone of this country and it’s a under paid, over committed choice to be a government employee, Everyone knows that the salaries have never been equvalent to the public sector and now job security is up for grabs. The DOL is scrambling to gain what little organization they had prior to this circus coming back to town. A lot of uncertainty !

A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified?
