[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

Since I've been in recovery, every full-time direct supervisor of mine has known that I'm in AA, and that my sobriety comes first. (I typically present that with the added perk that when my serenity is high, I'm a much better human and co-worker.) With that fact, I tell them there are rare occasions where I "really need" meetings, but that I can go and work around them very easily. All have been very cool with that. Just my experience. Honest, open and willing, I hope.
Morning meetings before work are great. It’s a positive way to start the day. Plus you don’t have to stress about not getting to a meeting later. Also it can get you to work on time or early
Lunch meetings and early morning meetings if you have those around where you live.
I try to up the prayer and (time allotting) meditation. The phone is also, more than ever, my ultimate sobriety tool when the work crunch comes. Try to call at least one other alcoholic a day, even if it’s just for a quick, five minute chat or to hear about their day. Always helps me get out of my head.
This Bowl is also a great way to vent or reach out.
