I wouldn't do it. The consulting work is usually on the "business" side of education, so it may ruin your passion for the space
I think it's important to remember what we mean when we say "business"-side of education. No one wants to work for the University of Phoenix. But curriculum and assessment providers, instructional tool designers, operating non-profits, impact investors, SEL curriculum providers? The education market is huge, and because it inevitable is trying to sell to mission-driven stakeholders even as a for-profit company, it can still be personally meaningful.
Check out Tyton Partners. Boston based, but big player in the education consulting space
Check out Tyton Partners. Strategy consulting focused exclusively on everything education (early childhood to higher ed, workforce). Works with non-profits, for-profit companies, investors, foundations etc.

Huron
Check out Huron. They do a bunch of higher Ed consulting. Some of the work is ERP focus, and the other is a combination of strategy and guidance for university offices and admins.
