Good reviews doesn’t mean much if you’re not meeting hours and billing lower than typical for your peer group.

I don’t know your firm or practice area, but, tbh, I’m surprised you are still employed not hitting hours 3/4 years if the rest of the group is hitting. Unless the group as a whole is profitable so there’s no pressure to trim and/or you fill some niche.
This was me, good reviews and okish hours that were below target. Then I got a surprise uncorroborated negative review that was never mentioned before and soon shown the door.

Yes. Sounds like it will be hard for you to make even senior associate if you're consistently not making hours while your peers are.
Thing is - do you really not know what you’re doing or does it just feel like it? Meaning are you just being given more substantive work that’s an adjustment or do you feel like you’re behind all your classmates?
