5 weeks vacation should be the minimum but it's so hard to find any job that offers that at base.

Has anyone successfully negotiated more vacation time instead of more money? (I know that sounds crazy but I got a 40% raise with 2 weeks less vacation a couple years ago and I am constantly burnt out).

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
