A colleague of mine accidentally found out that I'm earning more than she is. That probably wouldn't have been a problem; however, she's been with the company two years longer than I have and has more experience overall. Now she's mad at me, refusing to speak to me and making things around the office awkward. But how is any of this my fault? I simply took the salary I was offered. Was I supposed to make sure I wasn't making more than the senior members on the team?

The only way for her to make more is to move to a new company. New hires generally always come in at a higher rate, current employees will never close the gap at their current company for current market rates. You don’t own this, if anything it’s the fault of the company not willing to pay maker rate or give a COL increase to current employees.

How did she find out?
If you were talking to people about your salary then you have to live with the consequences of that.
Not saying you were wrong, but one of the consequences is some people may become upset.

If you weren’t involved then I’d speak to your boss to inform them know ow she is behaving unprofessionally.
A good manager will be able to resolve the issue.

Welcome them to the wonderful world of company loyalty. It doesn’t pay to stick around somewhere for long. That being said, it would be motivation for me to either make the case for a raise there or start looking somewhere else.

It's a shame she's reacting that way, because it's really not your fault at all. She wants to be mad at someone and she knows directing her anger towards the company could cost her her job.

I was discussing my recent job search with some friends and we got into a small debate. I stand firm on not wasting my time applying for a job that doesn't post the salary with the job description, anyone else do this? I feel like anytime I have interviewed for a job that didn't post the salary, they end up lowballing me during the offer phase.

I moved to the Netherlands 3 months ago on a spouse visa. Was working with EY-P earlier. I have been applying to jobs and giving interviews but for some reason things are not working out. I get a different reason everytime (after going through the whole process). This has never happened earlier in life and now I don't know what else to do. I have worked as a strategy consultant (& a researcher). Should I change lines? Where else can I try?
I can't apply to boutique firms since Dutch is mandatory

Hi all, I have about 7 years of professional experience but only one year as a Customer Success Manager. I work on mid market accounts currently. I love my job, but would prefer to support a more robust platform that will allow me to add more value for my customers.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on what compensation you might expect for a CSM transitioning to a new company with one year of experience.

To clarify, I don’t have an offer yet, I’m just looking to make a move.

Thank you!

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different
