Ap clerk? Thats not even real accounting. Keep searching is my advice. Plenty of jobs out there for accountants.

Sounds like pretty decent experience. Public experience is overrated but You can always come back to public if you wanted the experience. I’d say take the offer, especially if you’re more focused on having a life.

Do you have other offers lined up?

I’ve applied to so many public firms even smaller ones, no luck 😩

I have audited a dozen or so managers, all in NYC... Having seen a lot of payroll, they have people at this salary level, but I don't think I've seen them really love these people up so I don't know what kind of growth ops you'd really get to see - these teams are so lean you could end up working below somebody who doesn't move - or for a firm that would prefer somebody with more experience at the next level.

My suggestion - take the job, take the risk, but make it clear you want to learn as much about the business as you can. Don't work 9-5 if the rest of accounting is working late, stick around and try to help out. Also, learn the funds they manage - the strategy, the investments, how they operate (especially learn fees and waterfalls that impact both the fund and the manco, expense splits etc). This is stuff I'd expect the next level to know and do, that I wouldn't expect you to.

Got an offer for SE III at a large tech company. Product I'd be working on interests me and I think I could grow more than in my current role.

Currently I make 180k base and have ISO/RSUs @ startup (60k/yr worth on paper, but won't be worth anything for a few years, if at all).

The offer is:
Base: $166,500
Target Bonus: 10% ($16,650)
RSU: 120k total (30k/yr)

Thoughts on offer? Should I counter?

Additionally there's a yearly target RSU bonus about equal to the cash bonus. Thoughts? 4.5 YOE

What do you think?

I'm looking to confirm that when potentially coming back on at Microsoft, the hiring manager will be able to see my previous connects. Anyone familiar with how many apps these judges normally get or what makes candidates stand out? Are these judges generally not interested in someone who has practiced in a different market?

Hello Fishes,

I currently hold offers from below:
IBM - 15.5 LPA
CTS - 18.5 LPA
PWC India - 16 LPA
Oracle Financial Services Software(OFSS) - 21 LPA

Planning to join OFSS as I will work in product development team and can work in any shift timings with WFH.

Today I had my 2nd round interview with EY GDS and got rejected.
Do I need to worry about this and feel low?
Could EY GDS would have been better instead of OFSS?

Please provide your valuable inputs.

Wondering to get some advice on how hard it would be or get an understanding of the market to get back into private accounting/advisory or financial analyst after stepping away for 2.5 years. Feel like audit scheduling is always done on a knifes edge in that the timeline and staff schedules are enough so that if everyone works 60 hour weeks and no issues are identified then it can be filed on time. But even small things that increase the work can wildly throw off the schedule and cause hours to skyrocket for the staff on the job. No real point here, just ranting.

Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons. Don’t want to drive 700 miles per week M-F. What will dual model be like going forward? 1-2 times week, 4-5 month? Seems like tax was more flexible than audit pre-Covid
