A recruiter got me a job offer, but the salary is way below what I told her I wanted and it's also less than what was advertised. She said she'd negotiate for me, but now she's claiming the offer is set in stone. I feel like I'm being undervalued. Is it okay to push the recruiter to go back to the company, or should I just decline the offer and move on?

politely decline the offer and move on copy and pasted the email in chat gbt and state you would like to decline due salary and it will spit out a polited email response to send back to the recruiter and kindly remind them to not call you for roles that pay less than 50K or 60K whatever you salary minimum is

Don’t feel obligated to accept to make the recruiter happy. You have your range and if they are not in that range I wouldn’t feel bad declining. Also, just so you know even if it was in the range if you didn’t like anything about the company I wouldn’t regret turning it down. Interviewing is a 2 way street; they don’t have to hire you but you don’t have to accept either. I wouldn’t allow yourself to be pressured by a recruiter.

Move on. Don't ever settle for less, than your worth.
I say it all the time...know your worth.

I think you should give them your final number and let them know that you can't go below that. If they say they aren't willing to match your number, that's your answer. But I wouldn't take less than you think you should be getting.

Share your desired salary and that it was communicated from the beginning and decline. If they are undercutting you now, they likely won’t be quick to close the delta in the next raise cycle. Take it from some of us who have also learned the hard way…

like

1. Make sure your number and the market agree.
2. If the company is paying below market, do they make up for it with benefits and are they worth it to you?
3. If not, they are not likely going to change, especially if they won’t negotiate at all. This will leave you underpaid and behind on your own lifestyle goals. Is it worth it for some reason? Will it give you an ability to increase your market value for the next transition?
4. The recruiter should have been an advocate for you to get at least the minimum of your salary range. And the employer should know that not paying you at least the minimum makes you a flight risk and want to avoid that. I would be hesitant to entertain any role at this company, who is likely bleeding talent, and to work with this recruiter.

I would decline and move on if it’s less than advertised and less than what you would reasonably accept.

If you made it to that point it proves you have the tools to get the job done regardless of the position. There are many other ones out there that sometimes are also working with the same clients. Does not happen often but you’d be surprised that it happens more often than not. So, go with someone else even if it’s with another company because you have value. Don’t over think it l.
A lot of weird things going out there. Just keep going and it will fall in your lap.

Good luck with your new company soon…

Speaking from personal experience, it’s important to bear in mind that ultimately, recruiters work for the client. Keep in mind the fact that you are the talent, not the client. If you feel pressured into accepting a role that doesn’t suit - politely decline but be firm wrt setting and sticking to your boundaries. There will always be other recruiters and more suitable roles.

I think you’d move on. Imagine future raises (or lack thereof).

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!
