Without hesitation, YES! If he would be willing to figure out what needs to be done, I think it would be well worth the effort. It may cost $400-600 to pay the artist that night, but live music almost always attracts a crowd.
Yeah I really enjoyed the music and I really think it increased how much I liked the place! Will definitely recommend it to my GM.
Licensing isn’t an issue, especially if you hire a local band doing mostly their own music. There’s more concern about liability and space. Also, if your restaurant wasn’t set up for live music, the acoustics could be an issue.
Yeah I didn’t think of the acoustics. Will have to check it out. At least in the summers, we have some outdoor space - wonder if that is a viable option…
It really depends a lot on your location... as far as location as in what else is around your restaurant, and location as in what is your location's physical layout like. Both are factors in whether live music will attract and retain an audience. That in turn affects your cost... if you have a prime location with a stable of regulars in the audience, many local new artists might consider it even trade for you to let them perform in exchange for them getting exposure and selling their swag/merch. Neither the band nor the restaurant have to risk any more coin to get win/win for both.
Yeah we are a little out of the way - not in any major tourist area - but we certainly have slow days and could use the boost in people! Wonder how much a good artist would cost…
