It’s worth it if it:
A) makes you happy
B) makes sense financially
C) can see yourself using the degree to launch a career (law, consulting, finance, other)
D) any combination of the above
FWIW, life is way too short to someday think down the road “what if I did this...” I saw go for it OP and do your best no matter what you choose to do in life
Be very very careful when making this decision. I went to lawschool when I was 26 and, because I had help from scholarships and my parents, I only owed about 70k after graduation and was able to pay it off in less than 4 years. I had classmates who owed well over six figures, and the loans have crippled them.
A law degree can be useful, but it is very dependent on grades and the school you go to. Go to lawschool if you are passionate about the law. Go to lawschool if you know for sure you can handle the debt, either because you have scholarships or if you have a job lined up post graduation. DO NOT go to lawschool to "find yourself". Have a clearly defined plan of what you want to do with your degree and how you'll pay for it.

T12 then big law is worth and actually better than any of us i think
My father in law was 35 when he started law school. You still have decades left of working, so if you want to be a lawyer it’s a no brained
My sister went at that age with 2 years in tech consulting - she is happy but she was also able to get some scholarship/help from parents and minimize debt
Definitely worth it if you can get into top 14 then big law with scholarship. Try to kill the lsat to maximize your scholarship chances - also look at decent programs that offer full ride if you get in early (Northwestern -top14 school, George Washington-top 20 school)
Thanks everyone! I was considering law back when i was in undergrad but got recruited to consulting before i even started prepping for lsat. There’s part of me that still wanna give a shot on this, ofc only would pursue if i can get into t14 with generous scholarship. There’s also another part of me wanting to build skills then explore other cool opportunities like at tech companies and FANG, or shoot for MBB. I am slightly hesitant in making a big decision since I am an international still under H1-B, with a lot of uncertainties in my immigration status. Not getting a job in Big Law or my visa approved would mean I need to pack my bags and go back, when I could’ve gotten greencard through Deloitte
My sister went to UPenn on an F1 visa. From what I know, the opportunities were very limited if you required visa sponsorship. Even unpaid internships were super hard to come by.
It really, really helps to think of law like one of the trades. Do not go if your motivation is money or prestige.
I’m in this boat. I’ve always wanted to go to law school. Something I decided on high school but consulting came along and now, I’m 25 and aiming to start law school in 2022. It’s never too late if it’s what you want and it’s what will make you happy. If you have a support system, planned your finances and have an idea of what you might use your law degree for, go for it!
