I’ve lived at an apartment complex with Fetch for 3+ years and the cons far outweigh the convenience. Customer service is almost non-existent (good luck getting in touch with them in any timely manner), it takes forever for packages to be processed and available for delivery, and half the time my scheduled delivery time gets canceled - completely defeating the purpose. Once it’s delivered the shipping service (FedEx, UPS, etc.) is off the hook so it’s basically an added liability in trying to get your packages.
Fetch is a great idea with piss poor execution. It’s no better than the Piedmont Park dog park with people bringing in dog-intolerant dogs and letting them run loose with no supervision.
Heard great things about it. Wish they would bring it to Chicago!
It's very hit or miss, though they seem to have improved since my apartment(s) started using them over a year ago [I moved from a Fetch building to a Fetch building].
It's nice being able to have packages held while I'm out of town (just have to remember to turn on signature required so it forces me to schedule delivery, then I can turn it off before they're delivered if I don't actually want to be home then).
Both my apartments allowed packages to be delivered to my apartment door, but not all apartments do (which defeats the purpose imo). This was particularly helpful when I first moved and had my mattress, frame, electric standing desk, desk chairs, etc delivered to my door without paying for white glove services.
Some pain points:
Delay between a carrier marking a package delivered and Fetch processing the package. Sometimes this has been upwards of 24h.
Carriers refuse delivery to physical address, because the building is a "Fetch" building. Example - Fetch doesn't accept FedEx overnight, but FedEx often refuses to deliver directly to buildings that are "Fetch" buildings. I had a work laptop overnighted that was held in limbo because of FedEx (as a result of Fetch, though technically it wasn't Fetch's problem). It took multiple phone calls with FedEx to get them to deliver it to me at my physical address.
Difficultly with retailers that choose best delivery option for them, aka I choose shipping then they decide delivery from store instead (think Walmart and Target). These would go to different addresses (Fetch vs physical). Walmart changed my delivery method from shipping to from store and used DoorDash to deliver a no name/no sticker Walmart bag to Fetch...fun times. Target has done the same. It also goes the other way - I choose same day delivery to my physical address, but it becomes out of stock and allows me to agree to shipping...to my physical address instead of Fetch.
Unexpected packages and or envelops can be a problem. Received a work anniversary package that struggled to be delivered because work sent it to my physical address, and it was a surprise so I wasn't able to update the address to Fetch. Also expediting credit cards - some come in regular envelops while others are sent via FedEx/larger envelops. It's a problem.
I had a terrible experience with Fetch while moving at my last apartment. When I moved, I made sure my new building did not have it
