Rising Star
It’s situational. Client calls, yes. Internal meetings when I’m leading a presentation, sure. Internals when I’m in the mood and not over-zoomed, okay. But if I’m not leading a meeting and it’s just coworkers, I’ll just leave it up to my mood.
On one of my acciu to the client rarely has other cameras on. I find it odd that we do.
This is a pandemic 2020 question. Kill this thread before it mutates.
I feel like I can express myself better when the camera is off.
But it gets depressing when everyone is off-camera, all the time.
Off, unless it’s a smaller group. Ain’t nobody need to see my ugly mug so early in the morning
Off 99% of the time right now. They have me working 10+ hour days. I barely have time to get my kids ready, let alone myself. My work is put together, and my messy hair and under eye bags is a result of that. Look at the work, not me. If you want to see me, then we’ll have to go back to a reasonable work schedule.
On, better for communication and understanding each other
On, because im a junior 🙃
on for me, I wfh 100% and I enjoy the fleeting moments of being perceived by other humans.
but also have never questioned/asked someone to turn theirs on, everyone has their preferences, no biggie
Depends on whether I’ve bothered to put on make up
All-staff: off
Team/project meeting: on
On unless I just woke up lol
Off unless it’s a client presentation, ever since my ECD started critiquing my facial expressions.
Off but I’m also usually pumping and I don’t think my coworkers need to see that 🤷🏻♀️
Off
OFF - I don't need to see you to know you are present
Off before 9am…and if a majority of people are off camera. But make sure I engage with “yeah…sounds good…I agree” so they know I am engaged and not just doing something else. If I have a deadline or have little contribution I also turn it off so I can keep working and not be concerned that I’m not directly looking into a small laptop camera.
It depends on what the meeting is about. There are plenty of times where I have my camera off simply because I am so backed up with emails and other assignments that I have to multitask during a meeting. (This also touches on the idea that I could never get everything done in the office that I get done at home.) And I know that other people are doing the same thing. To that point, when it comes to presenting creative, I must insist that everyone go camera on. There’s nothing worse than presenting creative to an icon on the screen not knowing if they’re even paying attention, laughing at the jokes, or even engaged. After weeks of work and late nights, it’s the ultimate insult.
On, because I know what happens when I turn the camera off lol
Almost always on
I always prefer off but I have a few meetings where leaving it on is required.
