I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

I’m currently finishing up my first year of employment post-MBA (~T10 program). Following b-school, I’ve been doing primarily ODD with some CDD work with a B4 consulting group. I have an interview coming up with A&M for a Senior Associate position in their Operations Group/Rapid Results practice (located in NYC).
Any idea what I could expect for base and total comp, coming in with 1 year post-MBA experience? My understanding is that base may be lower but that bonus is likely a lot higher than at my current firm. Management consulted lists $125k as base though, which seems low (even for someone straight out of b-school, though I’m not sure how that may be adjusted for something with a bit more experience)
1. Senior rate = $425/hour
2. Total hours in a year = 2000 (100% utilized)
Total collections = Total revenue = $425*2000 = 850k (100% collections)
3. Senior Associate take home % = 25-28% of total collections
4. Your potential total comp = 25%*850k = $212k.
5. Bonus = $212k - total annual base
Few assumptions that can change your comp:
- Collections %
- utilization %
- take home % based on your performance.
Hope this helps.
Have friends that work at A&M, my understanding is that they make up for lower pay by slotting ppl at manager if they have enougj experience. My friend was hired out of MBA at m which I think is closer to 140-150 base.
I was $225 last year as an SA on 103% utilization.

Notoriously inaccurate for consulting salaries, as it usually doesn’t differentiate between practices at a firm
Low base but variable comp up to 40% for the very top performers. No SC level means pay bands seem disappointing compared to B4.
All a lie, depends on which MD you work with
MBA doesn’t really matter at A&M, it’s more about YOE and your level coming in.
