Yeah it's tough when you have to fill in because staff quits. It's just the nature of this industry unfortunately. Make sure you communicate to your manager if you need certain days off or can't cover more shifts because if you keep saying yes it's a quick path to burnout.
Sad, but true. It's the "without notice" part that kills me, though. My coworker just walked out on his shift yesterday and straight up apologized to all of us for leaving, and same thing, I understand him wanting to leave and I could tell he genuinely felt bad leaving us hanging, but he had had enough with management. Not the first time this has happened, yet no investigations are made as to why management is forcing good employees out.
When you have fired people, did you give them a notice? If not then you shouldn’t expect the same courtesy
Pro
Also, it's not like I get to just fire people anymore. HR has to be intimately involved in the process. I have had known thieves continue to steal from me because HR was not convinced we had enough proof. And even when I had undeniable, on-camera proof, I still had to walk them thru it like 5 times, until they were satisfied they had all the facts.

totally get the sympathy, but it still puts extra weight on your shoulders. Retail really doesn’t give anyone a break sometimes!
Yeah pretty much. You know he's doing what's best for himself and shouldn't fault him for it, but that doesn't make the reality of your situation any easier. I hope they fill that role soon for your sake. Having to work on your scheduled day off is no fun.
Why did they quit?
Pro
A number of reasons, really. Some were personal. But they failed to communicate the personal reasons until it was too late to do anything to accommodate them.
It's great you saying you understand why he quit but think of what he thinking I I was in his shoes alot of us who work so hard and never get a thank you or anything but grief from a manager is hard to deal with think that you have that manager job really if you had bad employees we all know there one or two in a crowd but it takes us hard working people to make these managers and companies who they are we as employers really run a store ot ect.so tell the next one if it shall fit that he doing amazing and never make us feel as we're not needed
