Venture Capital and Growth Equity is a sub set of Private Equity.
A few basic differences:
1. VC firms invest in businesses that are very young, have tremendous upside potential in terms of scaling and also in businesses whose idea is not tried and tested. VC firms invest in many firms assuming very few of them would actually succeed enough to go big/get acquired and earn a return of 100x - 200x.
2. PE firms on the other hand invest in mature businesses with stable nature of cashflows, employee significant debt while investing and typically are in invested for a period of 5 years aiming for atleast 20% + IRR.
