Any advice on giving notice as a junior (about 2 1/2 years) associate at a small-ish firm? For context I exclusively work with two partners, one is usually in the office and one is mostly remote, and the firm does have a managing partner who I have never worked with but is involved in employee matters. Any suggestions on how I should go about putting in my notice? Should I do it by email or in person (are resignation letters a real thing)? Who should I tell? Or is it customary to tell HR first?

I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?

Hi can anyone share the quality of work, average salary for data scientist role at Captial One?

I found out a soon to be 2nd year associate got a 10k raise making his salary 110k now, while I, the soon to be 3rd year associate got a 2k raise making my salary 107k. So now the 2nd year male associate is making more money than me. How do I bring this up to the partners?

About to turn down a job offer that would nearly double my salary after speaking to several former associates of the firm and hearing some not so great things. The word “sweatshop” was used multiple times yet I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. This is truly “you can’t pay me enough to be part of that” in action. Just had a hearing on my motion to compel where OC told the judge we hadn’t conferred before filing the motion. Not only did I attempt to confer on 3 separate dates, I attached the emails and his response that he refused to confer to my motion. Judge didn’t care, as soon as she heard him say we hadn’t conferred she denied the motion. Not asking a question, just needed to vent.

What do partners generally expect from third-year litigation associates (smaller firm) as far as legal, professional, and/or case management skills go?
