Any advice on giving notice without burning bridges?

Tell your bosses first, and then anyone you’re doing work for or are close to. But don’t give notice before clearing conflicts, etc. Be flexible within reason regarding whatever close out activities the firm wants you to do. Prepare transition documents for your team as appropriate for your role/practice.

Tell everyone that you enjoyed working with them, learned a lot, and would like to stay in touch. No matter how tempting it is, avoid bad mouthing or criticizing anyone. Don’t let them make retention counter-offers unless you would seriously consider staying.

Some people are assholes and there is not going to be anyway to please them. Don’t let them upset you or make you feel guilty. Chances are those people are the same ones that would not think twice before firing you.

My yearly appraisal in on the way. I worked for the same client for the last year but in 3 different projects. I received client appreciations in all 3 projects and in addition I also helped my account in creating proposals, etc. What should I expect in terms of rating and monitory appraisal. Would be thankful to any genuine advice.

So I just started a new job in sales (B2B specifically). All my life I’ve been in blue collar jobs, military, then construction work ect. I don’t have much money saved to get myself my own business cards as I’m sure they are important to have, I’ve got all the info that I need to go out and start selling. I guess what I’m looking for is just tips on how you guys were successful walking into a whole new arena if that makes sense?

I know that the general advice is not to cut your own time, but if you think you took WAY TOO LONG on something should you? I don’t want partners to think of me as inefficient.

I’m in my 4th year at a small plaintiffs’ firm. Past two years I’ve received meager raises (5k) and terrible bonuses (3k). My boss prides himself on allowing me to gain experience so I have more courtroom experience than most attorneys with twice the experience. As I’ve applied for other firms, I’ve been denied interviews based on how my boss is perceived in the community. I’ve gathered professional references from opposing attorneys and other attorneys we work with but still can’t land. Help
