Take what you’ve learned in other areas of your life and previous experiences and apply it to your new situation. In the military, clear communication is needed and being adaptable. Construction requires knowing what’s going on in multiple areas at the same time towards a single goal and for blue collar work, I’m assuming you’ve interacted with the public or customers and had to explain certain things so story telling and getting your point across in a clear and concise way was important.
I’m sure there are numerous other things you could think about from your own life but those are generic ones that I’d imagine some would apply.
Know your no count. I highly recommend getting through the no’s. How many no’s do you get before you get a yes. Then work on lowering that number. That’s where I started when i did b2b called calling.

Transition to sales is only as hard as you make it. Buy business cards with your first check, small amount should not be very expensive. Then go to the library and start checking out books on sales and also read Dale Carnegie “how to win friends and influence people”. If you’re not a reader, get audio versions and listen to them. Lots of free information to help you get started! Most of all enjoy it! Sales is the best career decision I ever made!

Also, slow down, listen, talk less, don’t go right into pitching your product, try to discover their problem and figure out how your product can solve their problems. Hope this helps!
