Any advice on managing teams, helping them grow while fully remote? Beyond endless zoom calls.

So hard to manage teams remotely. Can you push for a monthly in person at least? Most agencies are in 3 days a week now, and it helps to have 1:1 coffee and more casual connections. Maybe you can arrange that once a month? That way everyone can relax and be in a room together versus all staring at a screen. You could also then have each person share work they’ve done recently that they love, which helps improve selling and presentation skills.

Even once a month would be better than never.

It’s so hard. My advice is what you already know but we sometimes forget. Or at least our agency’s c-suite forgets. Your team is a collective of individuals. Manage the person. What does John need to do to grow? It’s different than Jane. Focus on the people and you’ll be ok.

Proactive once a week or daily office hour time. It’s on the calendar, could be to review work, to vent or just to touch base, shows theyre a priority to you, that you’re organized and communication between you and them is important. It’s their time.

Start with a values exercise for each team member. Craft a vision for yourself and your team. Kick off the year with a vision statement and goals for the year. Tie back each persons values to the team vision and goals using quarterly markers. Every 1:1 spend 5 min on this.
It’s a lot of work but it’s how you grow them.

I think it comes down to treating your people like people you care about. So making time at the beginning or end of a creative review to have genuine conversation about life, the work, what restaurant they went to last night etc. And then protecting their time as much as you can goes a long way.

How do you transport your watch while traveling when you’re not wearing it? Definitely don’t want it just floating free in a pocket of my bag but I don’t want to lug around a big hard case either.

Just took delivery, and I’m already looking with pity at the rest of my pieces that don’t have a unique use or complication. Extremely comfortable everyday watch.
