My doctor wouldn’t do anything before 12 months postpartum. The medication they give you for FET isn’t safe while breastfeeding, so I ended up trying for my second at around 15 months postpartum.

Yes, you need to stop breastfeeding so I’d say fast track if your doctor allows like 8 months and more likely 12 months. Depends on the doctor
I think many (most?) doctors won’t do anything until 12 months post partum. I forget the term for it, but mine said if I got pregnant sooner than 12 months after birth it would be yet another red flag at the MFM and more testing because it is higher risk.
