Mind sharing the name of the company?
If you’re making goals, showing up, and being a rockstar - not just checking boxes- I would request a meeting highlighting all of your accomplishments and goals met then ask for a raise and/or what it would take to get said raise.
if you like what you’re doing it’s worth the ask. if not, lots of options out there that will pay.
He realized he couldn't get new people without offering a higher salary but assumed that since the current employees were willing to accept a lower salary that there is no need to change theirs. He probably won't be raising your salary unless you make an issue of it.
Ask for a raise and 10 -15% above the new hires.
Market rate is x, I don't require training so i am more valuable than a new hire.
If you want to be aggressive: I can step out to company x for this market rate and can get a sign on bonus, so I think that matching the new rate is a minimum, and I would like to be 15% above, or I would like a retention bonus of 3 months salary.
Agreed, if you have the bandwidth - it’s worth doing the research and applying for other jobs to see how much more you could be earning externally. This gives you negotiating power as well with your current company if you want to continue working there. I was able to find a job at a competitor company and raised my salary by over 30%, it’s worth exploring what’s out there. Good luck!
A lot of big companies do this. I used to work at AT&T and I was training new hires that were brought making a lot more than I did. I brought the issue to my AVP and he said there was nothing that he could do. The answer was to quit and come back as an external hire.

I applied for one of the positions at my company for my current position so that he was aware that I knew they were hiring at a new salary. Wouldn’t recommend it as I was a few weeks out from my next job but after I left salaries were “evaluated”
Any thoughts on the sales org at Atlassion? I am specifically interested in the LATAM division but any thoughts or experiences would be helpful.
Get another offer to see what market is paying then have the conversation. Be willing to leave if they don’t budge. Do you have any unvested equity keeping you there?
I’d ask for a raise and if they said no I would be applying for new jobs
I was in the same position, I was making 72, and they were bringing people in at 100k. I have been the number one sales guy for 5 out of 7 years, so I have the track record to prove my worth. I went and applied for 2 of our competitors and got the offer letters and took them to my SVP and said these guys would pay me 100k, so if you don't want to match it, I am leaving. I had my raise and got 1750 additional private stock options. That is my advice, but you will also have to jump if they say no. Sometimes you have to twist their arms, but I would ask first, you never know, maybe they will do the right thing. Because forcing them makes you bitter about the situation.
