Hi all! Is anyone here in Underwriting? Just want some thoughts on this as i’ve recently gotten an offer for an Underwriting Associate position and have never done any salary negotiations before. Does it seem unrealistic for my counter offer to be 12k more than the original offer? Considering that the original offer is roughly 8k less than the market salary. Plus i’m also accounting for wiggle room as i’m not expecting them to actually agree with the full 12k counter offer

I was contacted today by our President saying the company is looking to “backfill” with current employees who have buying experience for the next 1-2 quarters. As I have said experience, he wondered if I’d be “willing to entertain” being one of those people. He mentioned extra money (no specific amount) and asked me to mull it over this weekend. Recently moved to NoMa w/ wife. This past weekend our street was blocked my multiple police cars due to gun shots on M street around 2am. Recently i have seen many associates are complaining about work pressure at Infosys. The working environment has gotten worse. People are working 18 hrs per day and even on weekends. Hey fishes, I have an offer from a Big4 firm in Dublin for tech consulting in SA1 position. I have been offered 53k as fixed and a bonus of max 7.5% of fixed compensation. I do have a prior experience of about 40 months in Big4.
