Any M&A/securities lawyers pivot to something else? I regret not giving financial planning or trust & estates a harder look...in hindsight, I just really like and enjoy those topics and work. I'm getting very little satisfaction from my job (former big law and now from two pubcos).

I have obtained some relevant credentials on the side (i.e., think CPA, CFA, or CFP) and am considering pulling the trigger.

But, has anyone actually done this? Advice?

No advice, as I’m in the same boat (also former big law, now at pubco). But if you know you don’t enjoy the work, better to switch now than later in your career - at least, that’s how I’m thinking of my pivot. I don’t know what I’ll pivot to yet, but plan to take a couple months off to figure things out.

Know a couple big law corporate lawyers opened up their own shop and switched to trusts and estates.

That's really interesting...care to share more via DM? That's sort of what I'd like to do or join a shop like that.

There is this big bank where I'd love to work at, and after several interviews for various positions they end up promoting someone from within, even thou I understand it and think it’s good they promote their people, it left me feeling like I'm just being used to comply with the process.

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work. Are there any logical roles aside from just litigation to keep an eye on as for as in house? I’ve been thinking there must be some applicability to the investigation skills I’ve developed but I don’t know what the move should or would be. I am coming from a place of ignorance - not sure what would suit my background.
