Any physicians who no longer practise Medicine? What was your thought process and factors that you took into consideration before leaving?

I’m in constant denial that I want to leave because I feel the profession offers security and sort of am attached to it because it gives me independence from family and I get to help people. Other than that I know I am unhappy. Family thinks leaving would be a mistake and I should complete residency and stick to the medical career path.

I have chronic health issues and I’m severely depressed. I can’t even get myself to work anymore. If I don’t quit, I’m in serious danger of being fired.
