Would your firm offer an unpaid sabbatical?

No. Already tried.

How many attorneys/staff are at your firm? If you’re not eligible for FMLA, are they covered by the ADA? An unpaid leave of absence is often a reasonable accommodation in situations like this.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve been struggling with mild depression over the past few months. I resigned from my job and am taking time off to figure out what I want to do. I also resigned from a job where the partners were giving me a lot of paralegal and secretarial work. They were also spoon feeding me work which didn’t help at all. It made my depression worse.

How do I know if I’m just stupid or my mental health is affecting me? I’ve recently found myself struggling at work. It all started when I had to prep slides for a client training shortly after I rotated into a new seat. I spent a lot of time reading but couldn’t understand anything. Any recommendations on getting a term insurance outside of what the Firm offers?

Planning a pregnancy. Husband (also a consultant) is on my insurance. Should I remove him from my insurance to lower my out of pocket maximum ($7600 for the two of us vs $3800 for just me)?

When is it ok to change roles because of a difficult leader/manager? I understand we all encounter difficult leaders at some point in our career, but positive self-talk and resilience can only take me so far. I was offered an opportunity to progress my career under his wing but from the moment I started, his leadership style has been damaging to my emotional and mental (and physical) health. Time to end all the emergency BS mandates. Quickly. We’ve had months to decide if we want to get vaccinated. We have treatments available. Omicron is the variant we’ve been waiting for to end this mess. My family has all the shots we can get. Go with God for people who make other decisions. But it’s time to put the public health weenies back on their cages.
